I created this painting while I was visiting my son, JD, who was living in Rio. We walked to the not-so-near craft store to purchase an assortment of acrylics, brushes, and their biggest canvas. Then we toted all back through the busy streets to his tiny apartment. I didn’t have the usual studio conveniences: I sat cross-legged on the floor with a paper plate palette. Using a suitcase to prop up the picture, we drew from his imagination and developed tangible images. He wanted a “Conan” type of battle-action scene with lots of participants. He would come home from work in the evenings and critique my daily progress. Thus, he fittingly signed the finished product that had become a team effort.
