RAGGEDY ANNE

Medium - Oil Size - 30 X 391/2 inches

This is a tribute to my Grandma Reed; but no painting I do could live up to my high standards of my grandmother. She was a true pioneer woman. I titled it “Raggedy Anne” because the child in her arms, Anne, is wearing hand-me-downs. I believe Anne was the tenth of Grandma’s fourteen children. Aunt Anne (like the other children) lived in a remote part of Idaho, were home schooled, and survived on few conveniences. I took lessons from a great artist, Frank Covino, who told me he hoped to live long enough to help me complete this composition. However, he did not accomplish that; and I struggled alone, painting it in his style and inspiration.
