"FAIRY PRINCESS OF GLASTONBURY"

Medium - Oil Size - 24 X 36 inches
This memorializes my visit to the mystical town of Glastonbury in 2007. We hiked to the hilltop (thor) to visit the ruins of a castle. There I was intrigued by a young mother and her child, dressed just as the painting depicts. When we descended the climb, I took their picture while they were busying themselves picking blackberries. In my recreation, I had her painting the scene where I first viewed them. The carpet is the pattern in the nearby monastery whose courtyard is supposed to contain the graves of King Arthur and Merlyn. It was my intention to recapture the aura of spiritual history and bohemian culture one finds in this small Somerset village.
